Master's degree with at least 55% marks (6.18 CGPA out of 10) or (50% marks or 5.62 CGPA out of 10, for SC/ST candidates) of Guru Nanak Dev University or an equivalent degree of recognized Indian or foreign University in the subject concerned or allied subject.

Admission will be based on merit of the candidate in the Entrance Test to be conducted by the Department.

Activities

Department of Guru Nanak Studies is statuary Department of Guru Nanak Dev University. In this Department various research programmes have been going on under SAP DRS -II since 2013. These research programmes stated under SAP DRS-I from 2007-2012. At present faculty of Guru Nanak Studies working on various research projects under SAP DRS-II and its term is from 2013 to 2019.
The major research project is proceeding under SAP DRS-II is the preparation of ‘Religious Atlas’ of various religious places of India of different religions. Apart from this, the Department of Guru Nanak Studies has been preparing various research tools/ references on Sikh Literature and Sikh history. This Department has been doing commendable job in the field of religious studies, philosophy and Sikh history. Besides this the Department constantly organising various Seminars, Conferences and special lectures on different subjects of philosophy, religious studies, education, ethics and interfaith understanding etc.
Apart from above mentioned activities Journal of Sikh Studies, a refereed journal of international repute has been a regular feature of the department since 1974 and a new Journal Dharam Adhyan Patrika (Punjabi) has been started from 2012.
