The Publication Bureau (formerly known as the Press and Publication Department) was established in 1972 to cater to the publication needs of the University, focusing on highlighting its academic achievements through research journals and books, as well as providing quality textbooks to its students. The university established its Printing Press in 1979. As the workload and publication demands of the university increased, it transitioned completely from letterpress to computerized offset printing. As of now, the department is equipped with offset machines, computers, laser printers and cameras in addition to other related equipment. It is fully capable of undertaking all types of printing requirements of the administrative block, teaching departments, regional campuses and associated colleges of the university. To date, the bureau has published 143 books in Punjabi, 103 in English and 24 in Hindi (list enclosed). Some of these books have also run into subsequent editions. The department has also set up a retail outlet for the sale of its publications. Book exhibitions on various occasions are organized to encourage reading habits among the masses. A special discount on university publications is also offered every year on the eve of university foundation day.
