Contribution to GNDU

Guru Nanak Dev University has established itself as one of the top academic institutions of the country. It is one of the top ranking universities in North India with a NAAC score of 3.51 (A++ Grade). It has also attained the status of “University with Potential for Excellence (UPE).” You can help us achieve even greater heights by supporting our efforts to develop GNDU as a university of international repute. In order for us to achieve this, we would appreciate your generous contributions which would be used to provide various scholarships to students, travel grants, research grants, the establishment of chairs, visiting teachers etc. and for development of infrastructure. Each contribution of yours makes a big impact on the future of the University and is highly valued.

You can partially or fully contribute to any particular causeand also for any specific department if you wish to. For partial contributions, a corpus fund will be generated to be used for the designated cause. In case of an individual contribution ofmore than 5 crores, an event / building may be named after your name or in the memory of someone you wish to, with approval from the competent authorities and bodies of GNDU.

The University would also welcome suggestions in this regard from its well-wishers, who are committed to contributing economically or materially for academic projects of the University.

Scholarships

You can contribute fully or partially for any of the underlying schemes and also for any specific department if you wish to.

1. For Under-graduate students
The objective of this scholarship is to provide opportunities for higher education to poor kids.

Amount of Scholarship:

General Degree courses 5400/- p.m. For 3 years
Technical & Professional courses 7800/- p.m. For 4 years

(This is as per the rates fixed by UGC under the Ishan Uday Scheme)


2. Single Girl Child Scholarship
The objective of the scholarship is to support postgraduate education of single girl child in a family.
Amount of Scholarship: 36,200/- p.a. for a period of two years (10 months in a year).

(This is as per the rates fixed by UGC under the Post Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child for PG Programs)


3. Post Graduate Merit Scholarship
The objective is to reward meritorious students (First and Second Rank holders) with an outstanding performance at the Undergraduate level for pursuing postgraduate studies.
Amount of Scholarship: 3,100/- p.m. for a period of two years (10 months in a year).

(This is as per the rates fixed by UGC under the Post Graduate Merit Scholarship Scheme For University Rank Holders at Under-Graduate Level)


4. Post Graduate Scholarship for Minority Students
This fellowship will provide them with an opportunity to undertake postgraduate level studies.

Amount of Scholarship:

M.Tech./M.E. 7800/- p.m.
Contingency of 15,000/- p.a.

5. For Students with Disabilities
The objective of the scholarship is to promote quality education among Students with Disabilities for pursuing studies at the level of Post-graduate degree.
Amount of Scholarship: 3,30,000/- p.a.

The scholarship will include:

  1. a) Tuition Fee and Non-refundable charges: Upto 2 lakh per annum or actual whichever is less
  2. b) Maintenance allowance: 3000 per month for hostellers and 1500 per month for day scholars
  3. c) Special allowance related to the disability of 2000 per month
  4. d) Books and Stationary of 5000 per month
  5. e) Reimbursement of expenses with purchase for a computer with accessories- 30,000 per awardee
  6. f) Reimbursement of expenses for the purchase of Aids and Assistive Devices including necessary software related to specific disability - 30,000 per awardee

(This is as per the scholarship for Top Class Education for students with disabilities provided by GOI)

3. Research Fellowship for Persons with Disability
The purpose of the fellowship is support students with disabilities who are registered for MPhil/PhD in Science, Engineering and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences

4. Research Fellowship for Minority Students
The purpose of the fellowship is to support students belonging to Minority Communities like Sikhs, Parsi, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian and Jain who are registered for MPhil/PhD in Science, Engineering and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences
Amount of Fellowship: The Fellowship is for 5 years as described above for Research Fellowships in Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities

5. Research Fellowship for OBC Students
The purpose of the fellowship is to support students belonging to OBC category who are registered for MPhil/PhD in Science, Engineering and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences

6. Single Girl Child Scholarship for Research in Social Sciences
The purpose of the fellowship is to support women pursuing PhD in Social Sciences

7. Post-Doctoral Fellowships in Social Sciences and Humanities
The purpose of the fellowship is to provide opportunities to undertake advanced research in Social Sciences and Humanities after completion of PhD.
Amount of Fellowship: The Fellowship is for 3 years.

40,300/-p.m. for second year

The purpose of the fellowship is to provide opportunities to unemployed women with PhD to undertake advanced research in Science, Engineering and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences.

10. Travel Fellowships for Students
The objective of the fellowship is to provide travel support to students pursuing PhD, for attending an international conference where they will be presenting their work. A support of 40,000/- as per the University rules will be provided towards meeting the expenses for attending the Conference.
Contribution amount: 40,000/- per student

Establishment of Chairs

Chairs will be designated in the name of illustrious persons, Nobel Laureates and persons of eminence in the areas/fields of their contribution. A corpus will be maintained for the same and the interest accrued will be used to support the scheme.

Distinguished Lecture Series

The objective of this lecture series is to bring outstanding scientists/historians/influential people to campus, who will deliver presentations on current topics and will share their experiences, thoughts and ideas on a variety of globally relevant topics. Under this lecture series, 1-2 lectures will be held per academic year. Money contributed by you will be used to create an endowment fund, the interest accrued on which will be used to cover the expenses for organizing the lecture series. Airfare, as well as honorarium, as per the University rules will be paid to the Speaker. The contribution made by you will be recognized by naming the Lecture Series after you or in the memory of someone you wish to, with approval from the competent authorities and bodies of GNDU.

Contribution amount: 5 lakhs



Visiting Foreign Faculty

Under this scheme, foreign faculty of repute will be invited to GNDU to deliver short-term or semester-long courses. This would provide an opportunity to our students to learn from reputed international faculty and to initiate collaboration between foreign faculty and our faculty. For a one week course, the budget allocated is 8000 USD and is limited to a maximum of 12000 USD for the two-week course. The break-up heads for utilizing the fund are:

  1. a) Honorarium and travel of foreign faculty
  2. b) Lecture note preparation
  3. c) Video recording of the course
  4. d) Contingencies and miscellaneous expenses, if any.

A maximum of 1.5 lakhs (for one week course, 10-14 lectures) and 2 lakhs for (2 weeks course, 20-28 lectures) can be spent for items (b), (c) and (d) only. Remaining amount will be used for (a) honorarium and travel expenses of foreign experts/faculty.
Contribution amount: 8000 USD/12000 USD

Research Projects

The contribution made by you will support research programs in the University which would help in promoting research in emerging areas of Sciences, Humanities, Social sciences, Languages, Literature, Arts, Law and allied disciplines. This will help support the requirements for individual research in specialized areas.
Contribution amount:

Research Project in Sciences 20.00 lacs
Research Project in Humanities, Social Science, Languages, Literature, Arts, Law and allied disciplines 15.00 lacs

This amount will cover financial support for the items like Equipment, Books and Journals, Project Fellow, Hiring Services, Contingency, Chemicals and Consumables, Travel and Fieldwork.

(The Research Projects will be governed by the same rules as determined by the UGC for its Major Research Projects)

Specific Research Project

You can also contribute any amount to any specific research project being carried out either by a department or by an individual teacher, the details of which can be obtained from the University website (http://online.gndu.ac.in/departments.aspx ). As per the UGC guidelines, the funding needed for Research projects is as follows:

Hostel

This provides a very good platform for our alumni to re-connect with their student life which they spent in hostels while studying at GNDU. Contributions of more than 5 crores will be used to make a hostel either in your name or in the memory of someone you wish to, with approval from the competent authorities and bodies of GNDU. Contributions of less than 5 crores will be used to generate a corpus fund which would be utilized to improve the infrastructure and facilities provided in the hostel.

Contribution amount: Upto 5 Crores

You can contribute fully or partially for this scheme for any hostel of your choice.

Guest House

Alumni Guest House
The purpose of this initiative is to build a Guest House for our Alumni, which they can use when they come to visit their Alma Mater. This Guest house will be comfortable and well equipped with all basic modern amenities and would be run on a no profit - no loss basis. Alumni who contribute to this fund will be given preference of booking which will be done at concession rates. A corpus fund will be generated for the building of the Guest House.

Contribution amount: Upto 5 Crores

You can contribute fully or partially for this scheme for any hostel of your choice.

Sports Fund

The sports fund will be used to

  1. a) Organize events: Inter-College, Inter-University
  2. b) Infrastructure including sports facilities such as stadiums, synthetic track etc.
  3. c) Equipment(s)

Contribution amount:

  1. a) Organize events: Intercollege ( 30 lakhs), Inter University ( 60 lakhs)
  2. b) Infrastructure: 10 crore
  3. c) Equipment: 50 lakhs

You can partially or fully contribute to any particular cause.

Incubation Center

The purpose of the Incubation center is to nurture promising talent/ research in the University to develop as entrepreneurs and have their own independent business ventures. It would provide initial support to the start-ups and enable them to graduate into an actual business in a period of 2-3 years. While the University will only provide a designated space for the Incubation center, the donor or the company or both will be responsible for its running. There will be a tripartite agreement between the University, Donor and the Company using the incubation center and the proceeds so made or any Intellectual property originating from these centers will be divided equally among the three.
Contribution amount: 10 crore

You can partially or fully contribute to this scheme. In case of a contribution more than 5 lakhs, event held/ building will be named after your name or in the memory of someone you wish to, with approval from the competent authorities and bodies of GNDU. Contributions lesser than that, will be used to generate a corpus fund which will then be used.

Extension Activities

These activities provide us with an avenue to connect with our society and develop social responsibility and become socially sensitive citizens. GNDU being a border University has a very important role to play in the society. The activities included under this program but are not limited to

  1. a) Adopting a village or Mohalla
  2. b) Providing education to women/children
  3. c) De-addiction centers
  4. d) Teaching Infrastructural skills like stitching, embroidery, computer training etc. which will make them independent and start earning a living.
  5. e) Other social maladies affecting our society

Marginalised Kids

Funds generated under this program will be used to help marginalized kids at school/college/university level of

  1.   i) Non-teaching Employees of the University or
  2. ii) Other kids of the society


Help will be provided to them in the form of

  1. a) Books for their respective classes
  2. b) Tuition Fees
  3. c) Excursion trips to Dalhousie where they will be housed in the University Guest House and taken around
  4. d) Training Programs to develop computer skills, English speaking skills, Interview skills etc.
